CPAC Classes

CPAC's EXTRA-CURRICULAR classes and rehearsals are held after the school day at James B. Castle High School. Auditions are held twice a year for the two productions that are open to all public school students on Oahu. High School students may be eligible to earn Hawai'i State DOE elective credit for their participation. These classes include: Play Production 1-4 and Directed Studies.

PLAY PRODUCTION credit classes are earned by completing 120 hours in one school year either onstage or through backstage technical work. Auditions for onstage participation are held twice a year for the chosen play or musical being offered and are open to all public school students on Oahu at no charge.

Our KIDSTART program provides two weeks of instruction in Performance Fitness and Audience Readiness to all fifth graders in the Castle Complex during the school day in each of our Castle Complex Feeder schools. Selected students from each school are invited to participate in our annual KidStart musical, produced each February and seen by all the students in our complex and well as offered to the general public.

THESPIAN TROUPE #566, is an extra-curricular program offered at Castle High School. Recognized since 1972 by the Educational Theatre Association and the International Thespians, students are free to write, direct, produce their own shows and events. Some of these student-led activities are offered to the viewing public!

CASTLE DANCE ENSEMBLE is an afterschool performance group created for both school and extra-curricular performances around Oahu. A small group of dedicated dancers who present free concerts, mall performances and dance competitions. Auditions are held annually with rehearsals afterschool and weekends.

Our SATURDAY ACADEMY are non-credit classes, held weekly during the school year. Subjects, instructors, and content offerings may change each semester, but past offerings have included, Chorus, Broadway Jazz, Tap Dance, Hula, and Dance Conditioning and Technique. For this year our nominal registration fee will be waived. Usually a one-time $50 fee (for each section) is charged each semester to offset costs of this special program but this year, we will be accepting donations only - pay what you can afford! Although prior registration will be required to hold a spot in class, space is limited, and is offered only to public school students on Oahu in grades 2-12.
